PM inaugurates new CBI headquarters building

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday (29-Apr-2011) inaugurated the new state-of-the-art headquarters of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi.

“It is an impressive structure and I congratulate all those who have contributed to its construction. I am sure this new building will provide all of you a congenial and comfortable habitat to work in,” Dr. Singh said.

"The handling of these cases constitutes a litmus test for you," Singh said at the opening of a new CBI headquarters in New Delhi.

"What is expected of you is thorough investigation, fair action and quick results. The CBI should act without fear or favour and bring to book all those who are guilty, irrespective of their position or status," he said.

"Whoever transgresses the law of the land, however mighty, has to be brought to book," Singh said.

At the same time, Singh told the CBI not to engage in witch-hunts. "There should be no vendetta, no witch-hunt and no harassment of the innocent," he said.

An advanced fire-fighting system, as well as power back-up is provided. Besides, there is a well designed Press Briefing Room and Media Lounge.

A gallery showcasing the history and land-mark achievements of the CBI is also a part of the building.
