Kanimozhi 'active brain' behind Kalaignar TV operations: CBI

A special court summoned DMK MP Kanimozhi after the agency accused her today of being closely involved in the running of a company that allegedly received 2G kickbacks, and of “actively pursuing” the reappointment of A Raja as union telecom minister.

The supplementary charge sheet, second since April 2 in the 2G spectrum allocation case, filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday (25-Apr-2011) in a court, dwells at length on the role Kanimozhi, Rajya Sabha MP and daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, played in incorporating Kalaignar TV Private Ltd. along with other promoters.

Before the chargesheet details became public, the Tamil Nadu chief minister said in Chennai that he was not aware of any of his family member being possibly named by the CBI in the second chargesheet. Later, the DMK lapsed into silence.

CBI has listed 14 reasons to prove that Rs 200 crore paid by DB Group, which controls Swan Telecom, to Kalaignar TV was nothing but kickback for 2G spectrum and licences given to Swan.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayaluammal got benefits of ill-health and 'non-understanding' of any language other than Tamil from being chargesheeted in 2G spectrum case, CBI today(26-Apr-2011) told a Delhi court.

The agency said Dayaluammal had delegated her power to Kalaignar TV Director Sharad Kumar to run the affairs of the company.
