Rajini and the film RANA

Ever since the actor, who is paired with 25-year-old Deepika Padukone in his next film Raana, took ill, there has been widespread speculation about his illness.

Rajini was earlier admitted to hospital on April 29 - the first day of shoot of his new film 'Raana' and then again on May 4.

Industry observers believe the movie - with a projected budget of Rs 150 crore - may have to be shelved if the superstar's health remains critical.

KS Ravikumar the director of Rajinikanth's Rana has pooh-poohed rumours making the rounds that the film has been shelved.

He is quoted by a leading newspaper as saying: "Rana is on. There are no plans to shelve or postpone the film. Reports suggesting otherwise are false."

Ravikumar added that work is going on for the film. He had gone to Thailand to scout locations for the movie.

Ravikumar made it clear: "I will be going to London for further location hunt. Anyway as per the original plans the shoot was to take place only by July end. "
