Eating Meat May Raise Colon Cancer Risk

As National Vegetarian Week begins, a new study shows links between eating processed and red meat and an increased risk of bowel cancer. Will you still be bringing home the bacon?

A new report released by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has once again urged the general public to reduce their intake of red meat and warned that it is responsible for increasing the risk of cancer.

Leading scientists say there is more evidence than ever before that fibre-rich foods prevent bowel cancer.

Eating less red meat could prevent 17000 cases of bowel cancer in the UK every year, experts claim. They say studies confirm that consuming roast beef, lamb and pork increases your risk of developing the disease.
