DMK MP Kanimozhi, who was named co-conspirator in the 2G scam case was arrested today. CBI special court heard her bail plea, which was subsequently rejected earlier this afternoon.
"The bail applications are dismissed. Both the accused be taken into custody forthwith," Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini said.
The court directed that Ms. Kanimozhi and Mr. Kumar should be produced before it at 10 a.m. on Saturday, when the case comes up for hearing.
Minutes after the court pronounced its order, some of DMK supporters broke down while others were seen making frantic calls.
The court had earlier reserved its order on their bail pleas for May 14, but had further postponed it till today.
The 43-year-old daughter of DMK chief M Karunanidhi and Kumar have been chargesheeted by CBI for allegedly conspiring with former Telecom Minister A Raja, the key accused in the case.
Kanimozhi said that she is not surprised. "I will fight this legally," she said.She will be taken to Tihar jail.
