Home Minister of India, Mr. P. Chidambaram today (27-May-2011) slammed Pakistan for being the "global epicentre of terrorism.' At the same time, PC complimented the US for bringing the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack to justice.
"Certainly, US political support and operational cooperation during and after the Mumbai attack meant a great deal to the people of India. We appreciate the US efforts to bring the perpetrators of Mumbai terror attack, and others associated with it, to justice," the home minister said.
US Homeland Security secretary Janet Napolitano on Tuesday paid homage to the police victims of the 2008 Mumbai attacks as she began a four-day visit to India to boost counter-terrorism ties.
Calling for stronger Indo-US ties to combat terrorism and other threats, Chidambaram stressed on the need for a "stable, peaceful and prosperous neighbourhood" for the security of the people of India.
He made the statement at the opening of talks with US Homeland Security Janet Napolitano in New Delhi on Friday, according to a copy of the speech posted on the home ministry website.
