The unit of Mankatha, Ajith's golden jubilee flick directed by Venkat Prabhu, has just completed a hectic schedule in Mumbai and returned to the home town.
Sources say that a segment of the story takes place in Mumbai's Dharavi slums and Trisha portrays Sanjana, the daughter of a mafia don from Dharavi, while Ajith plays Vinayak, sporting a salt-and-pepper hairstyle like George Clooney in Ocean’s 11.
Director Venkat Prabhu just has to capture a couple more of stunt sequences involving Ajith and actor Arjun.
One stunt is dedicated to Ajith to satisfy Thala fans and there is one stunt for Arjun fans too. Apart from these stunts there is yet another dare-devil car chase stunt which will be shot will Ajith. Since we all know that driving is Thala’s passion his fans will get to see their hero getting behind the wheels are driving the bad boys out of their seats in an adrenaline pumping car chase sequence.
The entertainer flick is nearing completion with just 10 days of shooting left to be completed. News from the Mankatha camp is that Ajith has decided to go for a natural look as far his middle-aged get-up in the film is concerned.
He has reportedly told the director of Mankatha, Venkat Prabhu that he did not want to opt for wigs but would leave his hairstyle as it is. Sources in Kollywood say that Ajith’s current looks, with grey hairs, has something to do with the get-up in Mankatha.
Explaining of the same, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu said, "Like I said earlier, Ajith and I decided to go in for a new styling in terms of his look and it was finally sir who suggested this George Clooney look. Incidentally it goes well with the character Vinayak in the movie. I am confident that his look will click in a very big way once the movie is released."
Let’s wait to have a glimpse on how he looks in his new get-up.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri, the movie has been in the making for past few months. Interestingly teaser trailers of the movie was out when it went to floors. It won great admiration of movie-buffs.
The director clears the misconception that it is a gangster film, "Mankatha is a traditional card game played in the state by betting sums of money. Similarly, here too, it’s about different people trying to do something and how everything changes at a particular point." Though he was tightlipped about the theme, sources say that it is about cricket betting during the IPL season.
Meanwhile, Prabhu is simultaneously editing the portions canned so far and Yuvan Shankar Raja has also started his recording work. The director was ecstatic when his producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri was all praise for him after watching the rough cuts of Mankatha. "He is a great fan of Ajith. Soon after watching the clippings, he got so excited that he hugged me and remarked ‘Thala Thala Than’."
Apart from the action sequences a song sequence too is pending, and sources close to the ‘Mankatha’ team reveal that this song does not involve Thala. Director Venkat is in the process of completing all the portions which need Ajith quickly because “Thala” has to leave for his ‘Billa 2’ shooting soon.
‘Mankatha’ sees a glittering star cast in Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Sneha, Andrea with some of the above stars appearing in cameo roles.
