At least 22 people were killed after the bus they were travelling in fell into a roadside ditch and caught fire in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
According to police, the bus hit a culvert when it tried to avert stationary vehicles. One survivor was admitted to the government hospital.
The bus was on its way to Tirupur at the time of the accident. It caught fire almost instantly, killing most of the passengers.
There were 24 people on the air-conditioned bus, but only the driver and a passenger survived the accident.
Kancheepuram Superintendent of Police S. Manoharan, who visited the site of the accident, said efforts were on to retrieve the bodies, which were charred beyond recognition.
