Prime Minister of India - Mr. Manmohan Singh has asked ministers to declare their assets as also those of their spouses and dependents along with any business interests, as per the annual exercise.
The Ministers have been asked to furnish the details by August 31 in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Ministers.
The prime minister's move comes in the wake of a spate of scandals such as the 2G spectrum allocation and telecom licensing controversy involving former communications minister A. Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar has written to all Ministers in this regard, official sources said.
The Ministers had submitted the required details last year and those were uploaded on the website of the Prime Minister's Office. The details are required to be submitted every year.
Mr Chandrasekhar's letter has requested the Ministers to furnish the details by August 31 in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Ministers.
